There it is! My first tutorial!
It takes you through the whole process of painting a realistic image digitally (in Photoshop, but will work just as well in Painter, MS Paint, etc) and is loosely based on a lot of training DVDs and professional advice (thanks Tez) I got. Yea I tried showing things that other tutorials don't - layers for example. It helps so much just knowing these things and I always miss them in other tutes.

No one's more surprised than me when that happens! I've only been doing these paintings for a month (been painting for a while longer tho) and it's still quite frustrating at times.

Basically the trick is to not get distracted by what you're painting, and just focus on the colours you see. That can be pretty hard because you always sort of "want" to look at the image the way you're used to.
It wasn't so much developing skills for me, it just "clicked" one day
